Okay but them girls with a little chub but still flat tummies with a curvaceous coke bottle body don’t count as fat girls. Y'all swear y'all down for the big girls, but is you really? Are you for the ones with rolls and stretch marks down their belly? Are you for the ones with disproportionate bodies? Are you here for the one that stomach fall below their waistline? If not, you were never for big girls, stop acting like because you post girls with a bit of pudge you doing something or your for something. You’re not, end of story.

The Problem with “Pretty Notes”

superstudies

i was scrolling down the #studyblr tag and saw about 3 people posted that they had to redo their notes so many times just to get it perfect and:

- notes aren’t supposes to be perfect

- they’re supposed to help you

- the least of your worries is to make them “pretty”

- make notes concise, not paragraphs & paragraphs & paragraphs long

- stop redoing your notes, you’re wasting time

- notes are supposed to help you review the chapter, not rewrite the chapter

- simply copying notes from your textbook (word for word) is passive learning. reconstruct sentences.

- buy white-out materials instead of ripping pages {save the trees}

- colorcode, but don’t get overboard. when I colorcode, I only use 3 colors because more than that can cause confusion. + when you write, you have to constantly think “okay blue is for vocab words, red is for important, green is for memorize, purple is for dates, burnt sienna is for key terms, cerulean is for synonynms” we aint got time for that

- try to finish taking notes on a chapter after 1 hr and 30 mins. this is always my time frame for taking notes

i’m not trying to hate on pretty notes!! In fact, I love pretty notes & organized notebooks. I just think that the want of achieving pretty notes shouldn’t go as far as becoming unproductive & passive. We’re students!! We have to use our time wisely & efficiently :) 1hr 30 mins of notes with 1hr 30 mins revision is much more productive than spending 3 hours on notetaking alone.

keep smiling & study hard! xx

while i completely agree with this, creating “pretty notes” is the way i have always studied, and is what is most effective for me. putting all of the information from a lesson, chapter, or even a whole semester, and spending time on it, is something that i enjoy. however, not everyone is like this.
take my parents for example; my mom is an artist, so for as long as i can remember i’ve been brought up to make everything look neat and presentable, and so that has become my mindset. my “pretty notes” are something i have always taken pride in, and love sharing to inspire others.
on the other hand, my dad says his brain is “wired to optimize.” he’s always looking to make things more efficient, in everything he does. this does rub off on me, in the sense that when i do make notes, i find ways to make the actual process faster.

my point is, not everyone learns and memorizes in the same way. if making pretty notes with lots of different colours is what helps you, or scribbling down everything you know so you can read it over and over and over, then you do exactly that. do what is best for YOU, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

classical-crap

I love when musicians say things like “I am a violin” rather than “I play the violin.” and we do it so casually, too. “you’re a viola. you wouldn’t understand.” “oh, her? she’s an oboe.” it makes me so happy that we call ourselves the instruments we play and that it’s perfectly normal to do so
